I grew up in North Hollywood, California, located in the San Fernando Valley. I was a young teen when the 60’s began. When I was finally got my drivers license, my friends and I would usually pile into my dad’s baby blue 1963 Chevy Nova and cruise Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards on a Saturday night. We would then go to Bob’s Big Boy in Toluca Lake and check out all the cool cars, especially the candy apple red ones. Of course, we would have to order a Bob’s Big Boy to top off the evening! I remember doing homework in my room on Saturday afternoons. My father was in the real estate business at the time and his huge desk was stored in my room. I kept my radio close at hand where I could easily reach it and turn up the volume. I didn’t mind doing homework since I got to listen to my favorite music, which included songs by the Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, Beatles, The Doors, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and countless artists from the British Invasion era. Even now, years later, I listen to the local Oldies station while I’m working and I feel more relaxed. Since I grew up in the 60’s, this is the music I normally listen to. Music always brings back good memories!
